RRSO/RRISD Orchestra Camp
In June 2012, the Round Rock Symphony and Round Rock Independent School District will again organize a one-week orchestra day camp (June 10-14). Each day, students will rehearse, have private lessons, and take various music classes (music theory, ear training, etc.) with R.R.I.S.D faculty and musicians from the RRSO. The highlight of the week-long camp is a performance in which students, faculty, and Round Rock Symphony players perform the week's repertoire together. Austin/Round Rock Conducting Workshop
Presented by the Round Rock Symphony and the International Conducting Institute, the 3rd annual Austin/Round Rock Conducting Workshop will take place May 13-18, 2012, in Round Rock and Austin, Texas. The one-week intensive course will be lead by renowned Maestro and Austin Symphony music director PETER BAY and our own Maestro Silas Huff. Professional and aspiring conductors and music educators will have 4 video-taped conducting sessions with the Round Rock Symphony, video review sessions, 2 conducting/baton technique classes, 2 score study sessions, and body movement classes. All Concerts Free for Kids Under 5
We believe that children should experience the magic of classical music as much as possible. In keeping with that belief, we offer free tickets to all of our concerts for any child under 5 years old. All RRSO concerts are child- and family-friendly.
"Meet the Maestro" Pre-Concert Discussions
Our Maestro and guest performers deliver informative and accessible pre-concert lectures 30 minutes before concerts. These discussions aim to familiarize the audience with the composers and the music of the evening's performance.
Side-by-side performances
The Round Rock Symphony in collaboration with the Round Rock Independent School District invites young musicians from R.R.I.S.D. orchestra programs to share the stage with the professional players of the RRSO. In these special concerts, the students join the RRSO onstage during the program. This season, students will join the RRSO on September 30, 2011.
